Gil Studied Trumpet at the University of North Texas and with Don Jacoby, Al Porcino, Bobby Shew and Benny Bailey. He spent 20 years playing trumpet professionally free lancing both live and in the studios in Europe. Based in Munich, Germany he has performed on countless jingles and more than 200 Albums and can be heard on over 40 motion picture soundtracks including “The Silence of the Lambs”, “Das Boot” and “The Never Ending Story.” He currently performs every Monday with Santa Fe & the Fat City Horns at the Copa Room at the Bootlegger. During the day Gil is Assistant Professor of Music Technology & Mixing/Mastering Engineer at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he as developed the curriculum for audio engineering courses and is the Jazz Trumpet instructor in the School of Music at UNLV. Gil is also known as one of the premier audio restoration engineers in Las Vegas.
Gil has performed steady on the Las Vegas strip and has performed/recorded with the following artists: Lady Gaga, Barbra Streisand, David Foster, Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, Bette Midler, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra Jr., Journey, Jennifer Hudson, Gladys Knight, Michael Bublé, Barry Manilow, Kool & The Gang, Carole King, Dionne Warwick, The Pointer Sisters, Chaka Kahn, Lionel Richie, Cecilia Noel, Natalie Cole, The New York Voices, Manhattan Transfer, The Temptations, The Weather Girls, Mavis Staples, The Scorpions, Klaus Doldinger, Shirley Bassey, Ray Brown, Bill Champlin, David Sanborn, Buddy Greco, Clint Holmes, Arturo Sandoval, Jerry Lewis, Nathan Tanouye & The Yellow Jackets.
As a board member he wishes to help in any way he can to improve the working situation for musicians making a living in the exciting city of Las Vegas.
